Fresh women´s world marathon holder, Brigid Kosgey held a presser at the Riadha House wednesday where she stated that she wins clean. Her sentiments were backed by her coach Eric Maiyo who stressed that the Chicago Marathon champion will never skip any dope test.
Brigid improved her personal best of 2:18 to finish in 2:14. She is also the London Marathon champ.
There was a moment that she missed dope tests three times and WADA made a big deal out if when they were aware that she was unwell and had even left training.
Kimaiyo said that she can be tested even to the last time, they will never skip. He added that it is not the duty of the coach to monitor the athlete not to use banned substances but the responsibility of the athlete to be responsible and carry their own cross incase they are found doping.
Brigid is managed by Federico Rosa of Rosa and Associati. She is from the same camp as banned athletes Asbel Kiprop, Jemima Sumgong and Rita Jeptoo and that can really put pressure on the champ. She was tested six times before Chicago Marathon and eight times before London.
Kenyans are the most tested athletes in the world and just before the world championships in Doha, our athletes were tested four times.
