Three more suspects in the murder of Rai Cement factory general manager Chetan Vyas were arrested on Sunday and suspected murder weapon recovered.
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in a Tweet revealed that the three were nabbed by homicide detectives in Njoro, Nakuru County after extensive forensic investigations placed them at the scene of crime.
According to the DCI, the three suspects identified as; Julius Odundo, 35, Joseph Mureithi, 34 and Steve Odhiambo, 24, are believed to be assailants who were captured on a CCTV camera on the day Vyas was murdered.
“Three more suspects directly linked to the Murder of Mr. Chetan Vyas were yesterday arrested at Njoro, Nakuru County by DCI Homicide Detectives, who also recovered the Suspected Murder Weapon & items stolen from the victim’s house on the fateful day,” DCI wrote on Twitter.
The clothes the three wore during the September incident were also recovered in their houses.
Julius Odundo alias Jowi worked as a carpenter at the Rai Cement Company while the other two, Mureithi and Odhiambo are former employees at Comply Company in Nakuru where they worked as an Operator and Security Guard respectively.
Eight suspects were arrested in October after forensic investigations placed them at the scene of the crime.
Among those arrested were five supervisors at the firm. They include 38-year-old Salim, 24-year-old Osman Noor, Mohammed Shahid, 38, Yacob Ali, 24, and 29-year-old Shabdin Ismail.
Remains of a destroyed Sumsang phone belonging to the Victim which was robbed and an Airtel Sim Card were recovered from one of the suspects’ houses.
The late Vyas was murdered on September 22 at his home after killers gained entry into his house by removing the store’s tiles and ambushed him in the bedroom where they tied his hands and legs and strangled him to death using a rope.
