Ongata Rongai residents in Kajiado County are now leaving in fear after a loose lion attacked and mauled a middle aged man to death.
The incident happened in Tuala, Oloosirkon Ward Kajiado East Constituency on Monday morning.
The lions devoured the whole body including the head, leaving a piece of his leg with a white sock on and a piece of the forearm.
The man’s body parts were found on Monday morning by passersby at a bridge near Nazarene University, a few kilometers from Ongata Rongai town.
Tuala resident James Kuria said the lions may have attacked the man who is yet to be identified at night or morning hours.
He said area residents live in fear because the animals have been roaming in their premises for a long time now with authorities ignoring their complaints.
Prides of lions from Nairobi National Park have been roaming in residential areas since last month creating a lot of fear among residents.
In late October, a pride of lions was spotted in Ongata Rongai on sending Kenyans online into a frenzy.
The lions were seen walking past the Africa Nazarene University in Tuala area, where the mauled man was attacked from.
The lions were later said to have been spotted around Karen C area in Nairobi.
KWS is currently in an effort to have all loose lions returned to the park.
