Do you guys remember in 2014, just a year after Jubilee had taken power, armed terrorists sprayed bullets at a Mombasa Church?
The awful attack left 6 people dead and one of them was Veronica Osinya, the mother of two innocent young kids—that luckily survived the attack.
Moses Gift Osinya was photographed cuddling his younger brother Satrine Osinya who had a bullet lodged in his head.
Satrine was shot in the head by the same bullet that killed his mother as she tried to shelter him during the raid.
The picture went viral online attracting attention of many after which Satrine was airlifted to Nairobi for removal of the bullet from his head.
Then Senator, Mike Sonko footed all the bills and was too touched that he adopted both Satrine and his elder brother Gift Osinya.
“The Devil is a liar as he thought that would be the end of their life as their late mother was the soul bread winner (sic) of their family. Today the two are part and parcel of our blessed family and they’ve been a big blessing to us. Happy birthday Gift may you live to blow another 1001 candles. We love you so much,” Sonko wrote on social media while welcoming the two to his family.
Here are the pictures.
In 2016, Gift came to the limelight yet again excelling in his KCPE exams and admitted to Lenana School.
Gift was among the top performers with a score of 399 marks out of the possible 500.
Here is the Win. Gift and his Brothe Satrine have grown big and for sure, perhaps better than they ever dreamed. RIP to their Mothers soul.
“I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of my lovely Wife and on my own behalf to congratulate my adopted son Gift Osinya the boy who rescued his younger brother Satrin during terror attack in which their mother was brutally murdered. Gift scored an A Plain in 2016 KCPE and was today officially enrolled at Lenana School in form one. We pray that the Almighty God continue to bless him and may this be the beginning of a successful academic journey,” Sonko who was Nairobi county’s senator wrote on social media.
Proud of his adopted son’s performance, Sonko awarded him a whopping KSh 399,000 for his impressive results and set aside KSh 2 million for his educational account.
In an emotional message on Gift’s 18th birthday, Sonko maintained that his commitment to serve the poor was genuine dismissing naysayers accusing him of pulling media stunts to woo the public.
“Serving the poor is serving the living God and this is where blessings come from but there are a few dirty minded people who politicise this saying its PR which will not stop me from wishing a happy belated 18th birthday to our adopted Son Gift Osinya. 5 years ago he rescued his younger brother Satrin Osinya from a hail of al-Shabab militants bullets who had opened fire in a church killing their mother instantly,” he wrote on Facebook.
“The Devil is a liar as he thought that would be the end of their life as their late mother was the soul breadwinner of their family. Today the two are part and parcel of our blessed family and they’ve been a big blessing to us. Happy birthday, Gift may you live to blow another 1001 candles. We love you so much,” he added.
Recently, Mike Sonko came to the rescue of the mother of three who was arrested while roasting maize and locked up in a quarantine facility.
As political temperature rises, Mike Sonko—even though he has so many massive controversial sources of income, he has been standing for the poor at almost every time.
His critics still insist that he’s cleaning his dirty money using symbolism of a man with the good heart and dirty money.
When cessation order was imposed on Nairobi metropolitan, Sonko through his Sonko Rescue Team were on the limelight for giving out foodstuffs to the needy with a customized Hennessy drink. He even featured on Trevor Noah’s Show.
