Omar Lali, the main suspect in the murder of Keroche heiress Tecra Muigai has been freed.
This is after the Director of Public Prosecutions stopped his prosecution and applied for an open inquest.
Omar, who was arraigned at Garsen High Court today left the corridors of justice a free man after the DPP made the application to terminate his case.
The incident comes after Omar, who is the boyfriend of the late Ms Muigai, was charged with murder at Lamu Law Courts on Monday where the Principal Magistrate Allan Temba made the ruling via a video link.
According to lead prosecutor Eddie Kadebe and his colleague Zakaria Kiongo, there was sufficient evidence to take Mr Lali for plea taking
Lawyers representing the deceased lauded the move saying that justice was being served to their daughter.
However, Lali’s advocate Yusuf Aboubakar vowed to prove his client’s innocence.
