A DCI detective stationed at Kisauni in Mombasa County has been arrested for defrauding a desperate woman in a job scam.
Edward Mwaniki Kabachia was arrested on Wednesday after it was reported that he obtained a substantial amount of money from a woman by falsely pretending that he would help the victim’s two relatives secure jobs during the Kenya Prisons recruitment exercise held in 2017.
A fortnight ago, three detectives from the DCI Unit were also arrested for involvement in the robbery with violence incident that was reported at Baraka Gas Company in Matuu, Machakos county.
The incident comes just a day after an Ex-Garsen Mp Danson Mungatana was released on Sh200,000 together with his accomplices pending investigations into the fraud case.
Mungatana was arrested by sleuths from Kilimani Police Station at a city hotel for what police said was obtaining money by false pretences.
The former lawmaker who has become the face of controversy and city frauds was implicated in a scheme to defraud a woman under the guise of facilitating her being awarded a tender.
Kabachia will be arraigned in court today while Mungatana and his colleagues will return to Kibera law courts next Tuesday.
