The road which was opened 2 years ago has become a source of worry for many residents and a headache for police trying to solve the murders of 22 people who have been dumped in the areas since the road was opened.
The scenic road cuts through Mau forest and shortens the distance for traders and travellers between the Silibwet Trading Center in Bomet and Nakuru County.
Last Sunday, a body of a middle-aged man who remains unidentified, as most victims, was discovered at Mugango area bringing the total bodies dumped along the road to 22.
Police say the murderers might be from other areas and that they have taken advantage of the lonely 50-minute drive to commit the murders especially at night.
“They drive into the forest, kill their victims and dump the bodies near the side of the road or in the woods, or they kill them elsewhere and dump them”, the Star Reports
Residents are now fretful, they want police to increase patrols on the road especially at night in order to ward off the criminals.
They fear highway robberies and want police to arrest the culprits.
