Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has directed an auctioneer to sell some three vehicles belonging to the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to recover the damages to his high end car.
The court had instructed KeNHA to pay Ahmednasir Sh750,311 to repair the windscreen of his Bentley Bentyaga which was damaged by a stone along Nairobi-Namanga highway.
The city lawyer managed to convince the court that KeNHA failed to erect road signs to warn motorists of dangers of falling rocks while road repairs were on.
Ahmednasir said on Tuesday that the three vehicles belonging to KeNHA were attached for auction to recover the money awarded to him by the court.
“Following @KeNHAKenya failure to honour the decree for damages caused to my car’s windscreen, I have sent auctioneers who have proclaimed three motor vehicles to recover the decretal sum of Sh730,000,” he said on Twitter.
The three vehicles include a KBW 919E Prado, KCP 535K Prado and KCT 764Y pickup were attached for auction by Mbeki Auctioneers with an estimated values of Sh500 each.
The auctioneer’s licensee Agnes Munyao confirmed to the media that she had been instructed to commence the sale of the said vehicles to recover the money.
“As a procedure, I’d rather put lower value then engage a valuer than overestimate their values,” she said.
Munyao clarified that she listed the estimated values of the vehicles to be Sh500,000 each to take care of the possibility of the values going up once they are valued.
Kenya Revenue Authority estimates the price of a Bentley Bentyaga to be between Sh30 million and Sh51 million.
The first batch of Grand Mullah’s high end car was imported in Kenya in the year 2017 and only five were sold in 2018 and three were sold last year.
