Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has stressed out that he is not going to issue an apology after he was caught on camera calling Uasin Gishu County Education official stupid at Langa’s Primary School in Eldoret.
In a video clip that went viral, Magoha was irked by the untidiness of the school where a section of the school was reportedly under construction.
“Nikisema wewe ni mjinga ni uwongo. You are talking about a report and I’m talking about what is here on the ground. You can go, I said you get away from here, wewe ni mjinga kabisa,” he told the Education official in the video clip.
The clip angered a lot of Kenyans with one being Kenya Union of Post Primary Education Teachers (KUPPET) Uasin Gishu Secretary-General Elijah Maiyo who demanded the Education CS to apologize.
Maiyo stated that it was embarrassing for the former Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) boss to ask teachers to collect rubbish explaining that the mess was there because there was an ongoing construction at the school.
“We are calling the CS to issue an apology immediately, failure to which we are going to seek legal redress because it’s is unbecoming of a man of his stature to refer to an Education Director as a fool,” Maiyo said.
He added that he insulted the County director in front of students, parents, teachers, and visitors which was wrong and cannot be tolerated.
However, on Wednesday 11 November 2020 in Machakos County, Magoha pointed out that nobody should be surprised at how he does things as he was also in KNEC where he made things work.
He added that he is just looking at the best interest of parents and children.
“Nobody should be surprised at how I do things, I was in KNEC. I made things work and now I am here to protect the interest of parents and children. Anytime I cannot do that I have no business being here,” he responded to journalists.
