They haven’t been a secret for a long time, but now Apple is making the ominous Beats Studio Buds official. The manufacturer surprises with the wireless in-ear headphones, especially at an attractive price. Customers get the AirPods Pro for far less money.
More prominent contemporaries have been caught openly wearing the new Beats Studio Buds, new headphones from Apple’s sister brand that is not yet available for purchase in recent days and weeks. A clever marketing trick, but the most significant surprise apple lands with the price.
Much cheaper than Apple’s AirPods Pro
The comparable AirPods Pro cost 279 euros at Apple. In free trade, we get them for about 195 euros. On the other hand, for the new Beats Studio Buds, you only need 149.99 euros from the start. A possible price saving in the trade is not even taken into account. And what do you get in return?
True, wireless in-ear headphones with ANC (Active Noise Cancelling) are even more sweat- and water-resistant according to IPX4 certification – just like the AirPods Pro. Equivalent to the Apple earphones, the beats also have a transparency mode so that even ambient noise can be perceived without any problems.
According to the manufacturer, the sound quality should be robust and balanced. Responsible for this is an 8.2 mm large, special membrane with two elements and a two-chamber housing. Necessary to know: The Beats Studio Buds automatically support 3D audio with Dolby Atmos – perfect surround sound and the latest feature from Apple Music.
As usual with other Beats earphones, the Beats Studio Buds can be easily connected to Apple and Android devices – AirPods users already know this. Of course, the support of the respective voice assistants is. Also, iPhone users can start by shouting, “Hey Siri.” Sound: With the Studio Buds, you get the first Beats product that works with both the iOS feature “Where is?” and the Android feature “Find my device.” Means: If a headphone is lost, it can be found due to its last known location or by playing a sound.
The secret of the lower price
With one battery charge, the Beats Studio Buds create a runtime of about 8 hours. Thanks to the supplied charging case, two additional recharges can take up to 24 hours. However, if you use ANC, you have to expect a little less endurance – 5 hours at a time or 15 hours with a charging case. One more critical piece of information about the charging case: In contrast to the AirPods Pro, we could not find any indication of a Qi certification. Ergo: A cable is necessary for “refueling” the case. Charging mats, however, are not supported. So this partly explains the no less attractive price.
If you like it in color, Beats Studio Buds is an alternative to the white monotony from Apple because the Beats headphones are also available in black and red apart from white. The latter looks remarkably sexy, in our opinion. A concrete release date is not mentioned. Currently, it is communicated somewhat vaguely “from summer.” On paper, as you know, it will start on Monday, 21 June 2021.
