Deputy President Dr. William Ruto has exposed President Uhuru Kenyatta for relaxing on the war against corruption and resorting to tarnish his name as an excuse.
Dr. Ruto who spoke during a live interview with NTV on Sunday night said that the war on graft is currently being used serve a political role after it was stage managed to target him and his allies ahead of the August 9 presidential polls.
“Things were cooked for convenient reason to blame one William Ruto. For instance, the issue of Kimwarer and Arror dams’ contracts… they are alive? Regardless of the statements and declarations that they make, why have they not cancelled the projects?” he posed.
He took on President Uhuru Kenyatta by his ankles when he accused him of lecturing the country on who to investigate, arrest, charge but shelving himself and cronies as untouchables.
The president’s move reduced the entire process and institutions that should fight corruption into worshiping the regime of the day instead of delivering on mandate.
Dr. Ruto was categorical that if he were the president, he would take on the graft head on without shielding his loyalists, friends, relatives and allies.
“Nobody should be safe from the rule of law… be it my deputy, be it the president. This is the only chance we have in fighting corruption and win. I will empower the institutions to even prosecute the president…why not? That is the law,” he added.
The Jubilee administration in the handshake era has seen people who claimed to be committed to the fight against corruption continue to steal Sh2 billion per day from the public coffers under the watch of the president.
The administration also remained relaxed as top government officials and president’s allies looted Covid-19 medications worth Sh2.3 billion at the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa). Rogue officials also went ahead to steal from Kazi Mtaani programme where out of the Sh1, 000 approved as pay per day per each, less than half is reaching the youths.
President Kenyatta had given the nation 21 days for the Covid-19 looters to be apprehended but two years on, no action has been taken because the theft was executed by his political allies, friends, and relatives.
The DP who remains the man to beat ahead of the August 9 presidential polls also said he will deliver a formula to fix the big issue of two third gender rule within three months in office.
“We will start by giving women half the cabinet, use administrative interventions, Bills already drafted…to serve the whole allay of women at the bottom of the pyramid with empowerment programmes,” Ruto said.
