Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has claimed that Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei banned him from speaking in National Assembly for allegedly abusing Bomet women representative Linet Chepkorir Toto.
In a statement, Salasya alleged that Shollei directed him to apologise or the deputy speaker would not allow him to speak in parliament.
“This evening after meeting with Deputy Speaker Gladys Shollei in the corridors she told me that if I don’t apologise to Toto then she will not allow me to speak in Parliament,” Salasya claimed on Wednesday, February 15.
Salasya rubbished the alleged demand by Shollei, insisting that he would not apologise to someone who abused the ODM leader Raila Odinga.
According to the youthful lawmaker, anybody who abuses the former prime minister should be ready to encounter the weight of Raila’s foot soldiers.
“Deputy speaker Gladys Shollei I won’t apologise to Linet Chepkorir. Whatsoever the moment you start to attack our political father, Raila Odinga, you rattle us and invite muddy politics. She must accept criticism in the same weight or bigger when she crosses our lanes,” he added.
While speaking during an Azimio rally in Busia on Sunday, February 12, Salasya threatened to impregnate Toto over the remarks she made about Raila.
“Alafu wale vijana vidogo ambao wanatusi Baba, kuna kengine kalichaguliwa kama hakana pesa kama Peter Salasya kanaitwa Toto. Kanaongea ati kwa Baba, ntakaweka mimba huko next week,” Salasya said.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, February 14, Salasya heaped praises on Toto following her engagement to the love of her life.
Salasya, who was elected on a Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) ticket, an affiliate party of Azimio asked her to respect Raila, his party leader.
“Yes yes young gal has done it honorably congratulations Linet Chepkorir sasa sitafanya ile kitu but ka heshima tu kidogo kwa baba Raila na tutakuwa marafiki wakubwa tena sana sawa… All the best harusi lazima nikuje sasa,” Salasya posted on his official Twitter handle.
