Former Soi Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Kositany has been named as the new Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) board chairperson for a period of three years.
In a gazette notice dated March 15, President William Ruto said his appointment will take effect beginning March 17, 2023.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (a) of the Kenya Airports Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint— Caleb Kipkemei Kositany to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Airports Authority, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 17th March, 2023. Gazette Notice No. 10624/2021 is revoked,” the gazette notice read in part.
The former MP had been shortlisted for Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS) position but his name was missing in the list presented to Parliament for appointment by the President on Thursday, March 16.
Kositany, who is the President’s close ally, vied for Uasin Gishu’s governor seat in the 2022 general election but lost to Jonathan Bii alias Koti Moja at UDA nomination stage.
President Ruto nominated 50 p****e to fill the positions of CAS following the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.
The nominees’ names have since been forwarded to the National Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament in accordance with the Public Appointment (Parliamentary Approval) Act (No. 33 of 2011).
Former Nairobi governor Evans Kidero, former nominated senator Millicent Omanga and digital strategist Dennis Itumbi are among the 50 CAS nominees who were picked by Ruto.
Kidero has been nominated to serve as CAS in the Ministry of Investments, Trade, and Industry which is headed by Moses Kuria.
Itumbi has been placed in the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy while Omanga is to serve as CAS in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration.

Former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri (Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development), former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru (Ministry of Co-Operative and Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development), former Starehe MP Charles Njagua Kanyi alias Jaguar (Ministry of Youth Affairs, Arts and Sports),.
Former nominated MP and Knut chairman Wilson Sossion (Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife, and Heritage), former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa (Ministry of Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation), and former Kisumu senator Fred Outa (Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs).
