Respected business executive and digital innovator Brian Mwau has been appointed Head of Business Development at TRIFIC SEZ, Kenya’s first privately-owned Special Economic Zone (SEZ) dedicated exclusively to service exports and investment services.
Based in Nairobi, Mwau will lead the zone’s global business development strategy, focusing on attracting international investment, forging strategic partnerships, and advancing Kenya’s position as a regional hub for service-based exports.

TRIFIC SEZ (Two Rivers International Finance and Innovation Centre Special Economic Zone) is a flagship project under Kenya’s economic transformation agenda and is designed to support global, regional, and Kenyan service-oriented enterprises by providing a competitive base to access international markets.
Backed by Centum Investment, one of Kenya’s largest investment firms, TRIFIC offers unique value to firms in sectors such as fintech, consulting, advisory, BPO, investment services, and tech innovation, distinguishing it from traditional SEZs that focus on manufacturing and agriculture.
His appointment comes at a time when the country is deepening efforts to diversify its export portfolio through knowledge-based and innovation-driven sectors.
TRIFIC SEZ is part of that strategy, offering incentives such as a 10% corporate tax rate on domestic income for the first 10 years, 0% tax on foreign-sourced income, 0% VAT, and exemptions from several other levies.
The SEZ also boasts smart infrastructure, high-speed internet, uninterrupted utilities, and a one-stop-shop for investor support, including ESG compliance aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Mwau brings over seven years of experience spanning corporate development, cybersecurity, and youth-focused digital platforms.
He previously led the development of Ajiry, a tech-driven employment platform that raised over USD 2.19 million and supported more than one million young Kenyans.
He has also played key roles in real estate expansion and impact-driven innovations, including initiatives that secured funding from the Mastercard Foundation.
Mwau’s appointment is widely seen as a strategic move to accelerate private sector engagement, public-private collaboration, and inclusive growth within Kenya’s fast-evolving services economy.
His role will be instrumental in positioning TRIFIC SEZ as the gateway for companies targeting both regional and international markets.
