Kirinyaga Governor Ann Waiguru has been acquitted by the Senate.
The Special Senate Committee investigating Waiguru’s impeachment cleared the county boss of all the charges levelled against her.
In a copy of the report shared by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, the committee found that the two charges against the governor of – gross violation of the constitution; and abuse of office and gross misconduct were not substantiated.
“The Committee having investigated the matter in accordance with its mandate under section 33(4) of the County Governments Act and standing order 75 (2) of the Senate Standing Orders reports to the Senate that it finds that the two Charges against the Governor have not been substantiated,” read the conclusion of the committee.
