Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala has revealed what he considers one of the most scary and unforgettable experience that he has ever had in his life.
The Amani National Congress legislator says it’s only by the grace of God that he is alive today after getting immediate medical attention.
He says on the day in question, he was meeting up with Raila at Serena Hotel after a period of 3 months that had been very trying and imposing for him. He had a short conversation with Raila during which he ordered a Coca-Cola, and loved the drink. After a while, he says Raila excused himself and told him to order lunch.
The reason Malala had not eaten solid food for 90 days is that he was just coming out of a rigorous diet regimen that had constrained him to a liquid diet for the entire period.
He had initially been told to restrict himself to porridge and mashed food.
When he began eating his lunch, he felt horrible. He says he felt like his stomach was being squeezed. What he thought was just a passing discomfort persisted and it got to a point where he couldn’t even breath properly.
He was immediately rushed to hospital where he received instant aid, and felt some relief. This was followed by some expert consultations where he was advised on what to eat and how to eat it as he slowly got back to normal dieting.
He says he had stayed for so long without eating that chewing had even become a problem for him. Something as basic as chewing had, over the course of 90 days full of a liquid diet, turned into a foreign art that required getting used to afresh.
