From Torome Tirike to Ali Mtenzi! Five most popular media personalities sacked by K24 TV

Wednesday 30, October dark cloud rocked Uhuru Kenyatta owned Mediamax Networks Limited after over 150 employees were sacked.

The company based at DSM Place along Kijabe Street declared some positions redundant in a bid to cut costs.

Among the sacked employees include notable media personalities.

Below are the sacked popular media personalities.

Franklin Wambugu 

Franklin Wambugu

Franklin Wambugu is K24’s former managing editor and Kiswahili chief anchor.

Wambugu formerly worked for Citizen TV as a news editor for 9 years. He is skilled in broadcasting, storytelling, news writing, editing, and journalism.

Ali Mtenzi 

Ali Mtenzi

Ali Mtenzi started out his career at Nation Media Group in the year 2000 where he worked as a reporter and Swahili translator for both television and radio.

Between 2001 and 2007 he worked as the Associate Editor at Standard Group’s KTN.

He later joined Citizen TV as a Senior Editor. He served until 2012..

He worked as a broadcast journalist with BBC World Service between 2012 and 2013.

In 2013 he joined K24 as the Deputy Managing Editor as well as a Swahili anchor.

Tony Timase

Tony Timase was working for K24 TV as a business news anchor and reporter. Before joining K24, Timase was working at Citizen TV.

Torome Tirike

Torome Tirike is a famed sports man who worked as sports editor at K24 TV. He joined K24 from RMS’ Citizen TV

Mwanaisha Chidzuga 

Mwanaisha Chidzuga and her husband Danstone Mungatana

Mwanaisha Chidzuga hosted K24 Wikendi on K24 TV.

She previously anchored for KTN, BBC, Pwani FM and KBC. She is one of the longest serving, most popular and most talented Kiswahili news anchors in Kenya.
