There have been reports all over social media that Graham Atwoli, the grandson to COTU secretary general Francis Atwoli, has been rushed to hospital over suspected Corona virus (COVID-19), after he recently flew back home from Guangzhou China, where the disease was first reported.
So far Kenya has not registered a corona virus patient and has put in measures to make sure the deadly disease does not penetrate it’s boundaries and Kenyanbulletin has established that the news that Graham Atwoli has contracted the disease are fake.
President Uhuru Kenyatta yesterday issued an Executive Order on Friday establishing a national emergency response committee to evaluate and enhance preparedness by equipping all Level Five Hospitals by mid next month. “The committee shall coordinate Kenya’s preparedness, prevention and response to the threat of the coronavirus disease,” reads a section of the Executive Order 2.
“Kenya is a major international hub, with 70 percent of international passengers on transit, and there is a significant threat arising from the spread of the COVID-19 to Kenya from countries that have new and ongoing outbreaks of the pneumatic disease,” the Head of State said in his Executive Order Number 2 of 2020.
Kenyans are advised to take reports that the virus is in the country with a pinch of salt unless official communication is made.
