President William Ruto nominated Bishop David Oginde as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Ruto forwarded the name of the bishop for consideration to the National Assembly upon a recommendation by the Public Service Commission (PSC).
“His Excellency Hon William Samoei Ruto has, on the recommendation of the Public Service Commission, nominated Bishop David Adang Oginde for appointment as the Chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
“The nomination fills the vacancy caused by the retirement of Archbishop (Emeritus) Dr. Eliud Wabukala,” read part of the statement.
Oginde is the former Presiding Bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (CITAM) and is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.
“Bishop Oginde is highly respected at home and abroad for his strong reputation in forthrightness, integrity, and his tireless efforts towards the promotion of ethics and virtue in society,” read the statement in parts.
According to Ruto’s Chief of Staff Felix Koskei, if approved, Oginde’s appointment will give Kenya a demonstrable champion for deepening a value-based culture in the nation.
Oginde holds a Ph.D. in organizational leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA.
He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Nairobi. The bishop pursued Biblical Studies at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Trinity International University) Illinois, USA.
Earlier, the Public Service Commission (PSC) recommended to the President the appointment of former Makueni Governor Kibutha Kibwana, Architect Amani Yuda Komara, and Bishop Oginde.
These recommendations came after Wabukala’s 6-year term as the commission’s chairperson ended in January 2023.
PSC on Tuesday, February 21, shortlisted 14 applicants for the position before recommending three to Ruto.
