PHOTOS: DP Ruto lands in Nakuru for Kenei’s burial

Deputy President William Ruto is currently attending the funeral service of slain police sergeant Kipyegon Kenei who will be interred later on Saturday.

Ruto was received by Labour CS Simon Chelugui who is also a kin to the deceased.

Other leaders in attendance include Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Nakuru Women Representative Liza Chelugui, Mogotio MP Daniel Tuitoek and outspoken Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri.

Kenei was found dead at his Imara Daima house on February 20 after a few days of being reported to have gone missing.

Kenei’s remains were ferried to Umash Funeral Home in Nakuru on Friday where members of the public were able to pay their last respects.

Kenei will be laid to rest as the probe into his murder gets momentum.

The office of the DCI released a CCTV footage on Thursday showing Kenei’s involvement at the Harambee Annex Offices where a fake military arms deal is said to have been undertaken.

DP William Ruto termed the release by the DCI as sheer drama and a plan for cover-up on the killing calling on Kinoti to expedite the investigations before the perpetrators are brought to book.

Kenei’s father evidently disturbed by the murder has demanded extraction of mobile data that he says will be instrumental in tracing who lastly engaged his son before being found dead.

It is said the killers worked cahoots with Safaricom staffer(s) to expunge crucial data that would have made it easier for detectives to trace them.

The deceased is survived by his wife Alice Chesang -whom he was to wed come August- and two children.
