English side Tottenham Hotspurs have launched investigations to find out if defender Serge Aurier flouted social-distancing rules for a third time by getting his hair cut during the coronavirus lockdown.
The Ivorian posted an Instagram photo on Tuesday bragging about off new haircut that he tagged the barber Justin Carr in his post.
“Yes Sir @justscuts #LeCoiffeurEstBon?? (the hairdresser is good)” Aurier wrote next to the picture.
British hairdressers are closed indoors in line with the government’s rules on social distancing and are only expected to resume at least by July 4.
“We are investigating the circumstances and will deal with the incident appropriately,” a Tottenham said in a statement.
Aurier has found himself in trouble twice during the pandemic lockdown after he went out for a run with a friend and again for training too close to Tottenham teammate Moussa Sissoko after which the two players apologised and made donations to the National Health Service.
In a separate incident, Davinson Sanchez and Ryan Sessegnon were also spotted running together.
Aurier, 27, was pictured arriving at the club’s Enfield training base on Wednesday as the squad prepares to start training in small groups after getting their virus test results from the Premier League.
It still remains unclear when the full-back took the photos but if found guilty, Aurier will face a club fine after his latest breach of physical distancing rules sparked exasperation at Tottenham.
“We are investigating the circumstances and will deal with the incident appropriately,” club spokesperson said.
Tottenham have began non-contact training in small and physically distanced groups on Wednesday under phase one of Project Restart and Aurier reported for the training in the morning with a protective face mask on. His most recent Covid-19 test results were negative but it can be argued that his most recent contacts – including the barber – have not displayed symptoms, so he is allowed to train.
