Kenya’s Sports Secretary Amb. Amina Mohamed has welcomed the landmark ruling by Sports Disputes Tribunal landmark that has signaled the end of the current term of office-bearers of Football Kenya Federation.
FIFA is expected to issue the way forward today after the SDT declared that the intended elections and the process towards the elections were unlawful and not in compliance with Article 38 and 81 of the Kenyan laws.

SDT declared that the term of office of the National Executive Committee has come to an end and invited Fifa to form a Normalisation Committee to run the daily affairs of FKF, review the FKF Constitution 2017 and to organise and conduct proper elections for FKF.
Amina stressed that she is a strong believer in the rule of law and the integrity of bodies as SDT.”
The former Foreign Affairs Secretary had not contacted Fifa because she appreciates and respects the independence of the SDT and the world football governing body(FIFA)
“We will state our position in good time but the rule of law must be upheld at all times,” Amina said.
CS Amina’s however, came even as the FKF President Nick Mwendwa vowed to stay put as the supremo of the body governing football in Kenya.
“Our arguments at the tribunal have been upheld by the tribunal and nearly all of our cross petitioners’ arguments against us have also been dismissed,” he added.
Mwendwa was however shock that SDT Chair Mr. John Ohaga moved to nullify the entire election, after agreeing that the Electoral Board and Appeals Committee was properly constituted and did proper public participation. Mwendwa did not agree with the decision but said he will abide by it as he waits for Fifa’s directive.
But in a quick rejoinder, FKF presidential aspirant Lordvick Aduda said Mwendwa was still in denial by invoking Article 43 (2) that allows a president to stay in office until a new one is elected.
Aduda argues that the Tribunal was clear that part of a proposed Normalization Committee’s responsibility was to review the same Constitution, which he can no longer enforce because his term has expired.
The FKF NEC comprises of the president, vice-president, 8 regional representatives and Seceratry General/CEO who is an ex-officio member.
Article 42 (2) (i) spells that the preisdent is responsible for implementing the decisions passed by the General Assembly and the NEC the through the general secretariat.
Aduda continue to argue that the life of NEC has come to an end therefore Mwendwa cannot discharge any duties or make legal decisions because all those must emanate from the NEC.
