The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife has launched the Tourism & Wildlife AI Solutions Hackathon to empower Kenyan youth to drive innovation in tourism, conservation, and the MICE sector through technology, art, and creative industries.

Speaking during the launch, Tourism and Wildlife Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano said the hackathon seeks to bring young people into the heart of Kenya’s tourism discourse by encouraging them to develop forward-thinking solutions using art, music, sports, gaming, and technology.

“This initiative is about giving youth the space to innovate and shape the future of tourism and conservation in Kenya,” she said.

The programme is expected to harness emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, to reimagine how tourism is marketed and managed, while also promoting peace and national pride through creative engagement.

According to the Ministry, the hackathon will serve as a platform for identifying and scaling up youth-driven ideas that can contribute to sustainable tourism growth and the competitiveness of Kenya’s MICE industry.

The launch aligns with the government’s ongoing agenda of expanding opportunities for young Kenyans and fostering inclusive participation in key sectors of the economy.

Further details on participation, timelines, and selection criteria for the hackathon are expected to be released by the Ministry and KICC in the coming days.
