United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has blamed alcohol over an embarrassing incident in Dubai where she engaged in a commotion with Mugithi music star Samidoh’s wife Edday Nderitu Thursday night during a concert.
Nyamu took to her Facebook live on Saturday to respond to her fans on what transpired during the incident that saw her dislodge Edday before sitting on Samidoh’s lap.
The incident stirred a public debate on the conduct of the lawmaker with some observers saying she had violated constitutional provisions on leadership and integrity.
“Guys, what transpired yesterday? Did I misbehave? I awoke to discover that I had been tagged all over. You don’t sleep, do you? Alcohol is not soup,” a visibly disoriented Nyamu remarked in a self-recorded video clip.
“I am going to give up alcohol. I’m never going to consume alcohol again,” she added.
Nyamu who showed no regret for her actions even as she told off her critics as she urged Kenyans to keep her in their prayers.
“Kindly pray for me to stay away from drama in 2023,” she said.
The now viral incident elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans, with some describing Nyamu’s behavior as disgraceful for a person holding public office.
Others defended Nyamu’s conduct, arguing that she has a right to fight for her space having birthed two children with Samidoh who is also a police officer.
