President Uhuru Kenyatta has displayed love and trust on old guards with the appointments he continues to make in his second term. He giving out state jobs to old political retirees over the youths and what should be the Jubilee´s face on paper.
On monday the president appointed the former Othaya Mp, Mary Wambui, 69, to chair the National Employment Authority. Wambui´s appointment was met by serious criticism by Kenyans on social media. NEA is reponsible for tracking employment trends for young Kenyans.
Wambui who has been suspected of peddling drug´s appointment is not the only one. The President appointed the former Vice President Moody Awori, 92, to chair Sports, Arts and Social Development Fund.
Former Minister Noah Wekesa 83, also benefitted when he was appointed to chair Strategic Food Reserve Fund and Francis Muthaura maintains he default status. At 72, the oldman is still being rotated from one lucrative state job to the next, he is now serving as Kenya Revenue Authority chair.
Uhuru´s recent appointments are dominated by oldmen and some lucky old women who served previous governments. Someone like David Musila served in Jomo Kenyatta´s administration as a provincial commissioner. Masden Madoka 76, served as Jomo´s aide -de camp and still in government today, serving as KPA board chair.
It must be noted that though the president´s love for old guards stretch to the likes of Industrialist Manu Chandaria, 89, young kenyans who have benefitted from such appointments have let the President down.
Gor Semelangó resigned as the Youth Fund boss on grounds of misappropriation of funds and pressure from the then Devolution CS Ann Waiguru to have some sort of áffair´, his successor Bruce Odhiambo was kicked out on allegations of corruption and theft. So young people have let the president down on grounds of massive corruption.
