JKIA Burial Ceremony: Qatar Air Signs A Sh132Billion Deal With Rwanda

Qatar Airways has signed a partnership that will see them take part in the redesign of Rwanda airport.

According to Reuters, Qatar Airways has agreed to take up a 60% stake in the project. The new Rwanda International Airport will reportedly be valued at $1.3 billion (Ksh. 132billion).

Rwanda Development Board said the airport is expected to accommodate seven million passengers per year with the first phase expected to take five years to complete.

The second phase will see 14 million passengers accommodated per year. The Rwanda airport project is to be completed in 2032.

Speaking during a news conference, Claver Gatete (Infrastructure Minister) said they are still seeking a construction company to build the airport. The agreements signed on Monday mark a key milestone in the development of Rwanda’s vibrant aviation sector.

This makes JKIA a living proof of the shame that this country has been forced to live with after the razor that jubilee promised chopped our economy
