John Allan Namu lands new deal at NTV

Investigative journalist and African Uncensored CEO, John Allan Namu, has partnered with NTV to air a documentary called Kenya’s Debt Cycle.

The documentary will be aired on Tuesday 15, December on the channel at 10 pm. At the same time, it will be aired on the African Uncensored YouTube channel.

Namu stated that it was important for the film to be watched by as many Kenyans as possible.

“We felt that this was a discussion that is important for the country, taking stock of where we are in terms of debt. We were fortunate enough to have good partners,” Namu stated.

The documentary, which is produced by filmmaker Maurice Oniang’o, highlights the rise of Kenya’s debt from Ksh1.8 trillion in 2013 to Ksh6.7 trillion in 2020.

It seeks to find reasons as to why Kenya’s debt has skyrocketed over the past years and possible measures to stop further accumulation of the liability.

It is not the first time the journalist is partnering with legacy media houses to air his bold investigative pieces.

In 2019, Africa Uncensored journalists exposed the incompetence and corruption in a multimillion-dollar healthcare deal. At the time, the documentary was aired by Aljazeera.

Namu is famed for explosive documentaries including; Police brutality in Kenya, and ‘In the Footsteps of Kabuga’.

The renowned journalist left Standard Media Group in 2015 after encountering frustrations with the management. At the broadcaster, Namu was a Special Projects Editor as well as a news anchor.

He went on to co-found Africa Uncensored with three other partners, Kassim Mohammed, Mohammed Ali and Wanjala Were where he continues to tell stories.
