Justice Daniel Musinga has been sworn in as the new President of the Court of Appeal.
Musinga took an oath of office in Nairobi today morning at a ceremony presided over by Chief Justice Martha Koome.
Musinga was elected by the Appeal judges on May 24 to replace Justice William Ouko, who was then elevated to Kenya’s apex court, the Supreme Court.
“I assure all of my commitment to uphold the oath I have taken and discharge my duties to the best of my ability in a transparent, fair and just manner. The court has a clear roadmap of the path that will enable it achieve its mission. My administration will listen to ideas that will assist in promoting efficient and effective service delivery. We will consult regularly with the leadership of the judiciary,” he said after taking oath of office.
Justice Musinga was appointed as a High Court judge in 2003 and has served in Nakuru and Kisii.
In January, Musinga was appointed the chairman of the Judiciary Committee on Elections (JCE), took over from High Court judge Msagha Mbogholi.
Musinga is now responsible of selecting judges to hear appeals, including the Building Bridges Initiative appeal, which is currently before the court.
