Wiper Democratic Movement Party has promised to take disciplinary actions against Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana for failing to remit monthly membership fee.
The party’s Secretary-General Judy Sijeny said Kibwana has not paid dues amounting to Ksh600,000. His deputy Adelina Mwau who has also failed to remit party monthly dues totalling to Ksh1,050,000.
Prof. Kibwana who is now reading from a different script with the party boss Kalonzo Musyoka has expressed his interest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta whose term expires in 2022.
Kibwana and Mwau are now considered disloyal to the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party. The governor stopped remitting his contributions in January 2019 while deputy has not paid contributions since September 2017.
Wiper has given them 14 days to clear the defaulted amount or face disciplinary action.
“We write to remind you that despite several reminders to you, you have failed, refused and neglected to honor or pay the said subscriptions which is in contravention of Article 29 (g) of the Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya Constitution and the Certificate of Pledge that you signed.
Kindly note that the above action amounts to gross misconduct and is in breach of the party rules and code of conduct. If we do not receive the said funds within fourteen days, we shall appropriate recovery and disciplinary actions against you without any reference to whatsoever.” reads the demand letter.
The governor who is in his final term also served as the party’s chairman till february 2019 when he announced his resignation after falling out with the former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
Leaders allied to Kibwana have criticised Kalonzo’s moves after he joined Jubilee.
