Kenya Broadcasting Corporation(KBC) Managing Director Dr Naim Bilal has reiterated the state broadcaster’s commitment to delivering mouth watering coverage of the upcoming WRC Safari Rally slated for June 24-27.
KBC was on Monday, 7th June, 2021 unveiled at Kasarani Stadium as the official television rights holder for the competition which returns to Kenya after 19 year hiatus.

Dr Bilal assured Kenyans that KBC would provide top notch airing of WRC Safari Rally action.
“KBC enjoys huge coverage not only locally but even beyond our boarders and as a result we will put up an excellent broadcast of this global showpiece.We also have a fast rising youth channel in Y254 and 21 radio stations some of which have rich listenership countrywide.Our livestream channels are up and actively running and we therefore guarantee a successful airing of this spectacle” he said.

His sentiments were echoed by the long serving broadcaster and Head of Sports at KBC Elyna Shiveka.
“Back then in the day it was an open ended championship unlike what it’s today but all the same we will give our audience what they would want to watch.As a true sports partner well known for airing Safari Rally we seek to rekindle the old memories of the competition which has resounding following globally” she said.
KBC Board Member Charles Mulila said they were impressed by the development of return of Safari Rally in Africa and Kenya in particular after being away for a long period of time. He acknowledged the pertinent role KBC will play in ensuring that its audience get what it deserves.
“The fact that this event is back and it will be aired on all KBC forums is really exciting to us as a board.We are very keen to ensure that Kenyans enjoy smooth viewership just like it has been before” affirmed Mulila

This year, rallying fans around the world are ecstatic. One of the toughest rallies, the Kenya Safari Rally is back and the world’s best rally drivers are now finetuning their racing machines in anticipation of the epic battle this June.
It has been 19 long years since the Safari Rally was held as a global event but the dry spell will end in June when once again rally enthusiasts will have an opportunity to have a glimpse of the fastest drivers in the world doing their thing in Kenya’s beautiful jungles.
Among those expected to take part is 91 year old Sobieslaw Zasada who will drive a Ford Fiesta Rally3 run by M-Sport Poland on the gruelling African encounter, which returns to the FIA World Rally Championship after several years of waiting.
The pole will become the oldest competitor to start a WRC round in championship history.
All eyes will be on Kenyan drivers led by five-time winner of the Safari Rally Carl Tundo who outclassed his rivals in April this year to win the Equator Rally by one of the biggest margins in the history of the competition.
Others expected to grace the occasion include the former Kenya National Division Two Champion (now in Premier Class),Onkar Rai, Tejveer Rai and Karan Patel all seeking to give the global participants a run for their money if not the bragging rights.
