A Kenya Defence Forces(KDF) Sergeant Denis Ochieng feeling agitated took the grenade from his military jacket, threw it on the compound before running away.
According to the family, the officer had been asked to wait for his wife’s parents to arrive and hold a discussion on his demands
The agitated KDF Sergeant Denis Ochieng based at a Mandera paraunit took the grenade from his military jacket threw it at the home of his ex-wife in Busia’s Marachi Central.
However, he went back to the homestead, upon ealizing that the grenade did not explode. He then collected it, and disposed it in a nearby river.
Police officers responded swiftly and arrested the officer after shocked neighbours who witnessed the incident quickly informed him.
The DCI further says that his apprehension has been reported to the KDF.
There is currently an ongoing search for the grenade with military police officers having teamed up with Butula-based detectives.
