State House has stated that it will limit the number of people entering the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium during the Madaraka Day Celebrations due to the Covid-19 situation in Kisumu County.
State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena says that the number of Citizens attending the event has been highly reduced and admission to the stadium will be strictly by invitation card.
“His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta would like to, once again, appeal to all Kenyans to continue observing the Covid-19 containment measures, even as they observe the 58th Madaraka Day Celebrations.
“The President particularly appeals to the passionate residents of Kisumu City to give the best account of themselves by avoiding situations that may compromise national efforts against the Covid-19 pandemic,” the statement from State House reads.
These decisions come with the surge in Covid-19 cases within Luo Nyanza Region.
According to Ministry of Health yesterday’s Covid-19 cases report, the report showed that Luo Nyanza Counties Covid -19 cases are still on rise.
The Case load by Saturday 29th, was at a total of 116.
“The case load distribution was as follows; Siaya 53 cases, Kisumu 43, Homabay 13 and Migori 7 cases each.”
The case load within Kisumu led to the closure of newly constructed Chichwa Market after some traders tested positive to Covid -19.
St. Peters Nanga Parish Nyalenda, was also put under lockdown after Fr.Kraackman the Parish Priest and a brother tested positive.
Other places within Kisumu city are under watch on the spread of Covid-19.
