Education Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha has outlawed hiring of school buses for private events.
Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) where he released the Form One selection results for the 2020 KCPE candidates, he said those seeking services of school buses must get authority from the ministry effective immediately.
“We will not sit and allow people to misuse facilities of our children…We will give authorisation from Jogoo house, it does not matter if you are a government official,” he said.
According to Magoha, school buses are to carry children using Covid-19 protocols and action will be taken against anybody using the buses for any other reason.
Education Principal Secretary Dr. Julius Jwan noted that school buses are taking people to funerals and not fumigating them subjecting teachers and children to Covid-19.
On gatherings and political rallies in schools, Jwan maintained that the ban is still in place.
Meanwhile, Magoha announced that all candidates who sat for their Kenya Certificate of Primary Education(KCPE) exams 2020 will join Form One on August 2nd, 2021.
36,252 learners are to join national schools.

County schools have taken 115,325 girls and 98,266 boys adding up to 213,591.
Special needs candidates have also been placed in regular schools of their preference.
According to Magoha, they have opened up opportunities for children from slums
