Malala: A fiveman squad formed to assassinate me

The Senate Deputy Minority leader and Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala alleges that a secret squad has been formed to eliminate him.

In a letter to Interior CS Fred Matiangi, Police IG Hillary Mutyambai and DCI boss George Kinoti, the vocal lawmaker asked for his security to be beefed up and the squad probed.

Malala has also written to Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka over the same, saying the threats are real and credible with intentions to harm, injure, eliminate or assassinate him.

“I now request your office to take immediate action to enhance the security detail assigned to me, including additional security provided immediately to my family and my residences in Kakamega and Nairobi,” Malala said.

The senator is raising the security concerns nearly two weeks  a fortnight after he was dramatically arrested to alongside two other senators DCI  detectives.

Malala was arrested in his Kitengela home and diven to Mumias to record a statement for flouting Covid-19 rules.

Senators Steve Lelegwe (Samburu) and Christopher Langat (Bomet)  and taken to the respective counties.

The arrests were made on the day the senators were expected to vote in the controversial third basis for sharing revenue among the 47 counties.

In the letter drafted by Malalah and Co Advocates was also copied to Attorney General Paul Kihara.

“We are aware that a secret and specialised squad of the Special Service Unit (SSU) has been recently formed with express instructions to “keep an eye on/eliminate Senator Cleophas Wakhungu Malalah,” the letter reads in part.

The letter also listed some five secret officers of the “Bravo Zulu Yankee” squad that has been given a Total petrol fuel card to use in their operation of ‘tracking and eliminating’ Malala.
