A man was arrested on Tuesday morning after his girlfriend was found dead in their house in Karuri, Kiambu County.
The man told police that they both came home on Monday with his girlfriend 36-year-old and had supper, which had been prepared by his mother, before they retired to bed.
He said when he woke up on Valentine’s Day he found his girlfriend seated on a sofa but unresponsive.
According to the police, the deceased had bruises on her back and lower limbs but without any major visible injuries.
The body was thereafter moved to Kihara Level Four Mospital mortuary for post-mortem examination.
In a similar incident last month, a 22-year-old man died in Narok under mysterious circumstances in his room where he had spent the night with his lover.
A roommate of the deceased, who reported the incident, told the police that on the fateful day he escorted the couple to their rented house and left.
When he returned at around 1am, he found the door locked from inside and got no response when he knocked. He left and rented a room to spend the night. However, at around 2am, he was woken up by his neighbour who informed him that his roommate had been killed.
Police who visited the scene found the door locked and knocked it down. Inside they found blood stains all over the floor with the body of the deceased lying naked and facing upwards with a deep cut on the head and with a slit throat.
The woman was found with a deep cut on the right thigh and both hands. She was rushed to Narok County Referral Hospital while the body of the deceased was taken to a nearby morgue pending an autopsy.
