Mask selling syndicate unearthed at SGR Nairobi Terminus

Nairobi SGR Terminus in Syokimau

Despite the Ministry of Health led by CS Mutahi Kagwe lifting a longstanding mandatory wearing of facemasks more than two months ago, greedy profiteers are still taking advantage of the retired regulation to milk Kenyans already suffering from a skyrocketing cost of living.

For instance, credible sources have reliably informed us of such a bunch of racketeers that have set shop outside the Nairobi city Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) Terminus in conjunction with unprincipled security guards.

The mask selling syndicate mostly targets gullible passengers who are randomly stopped in their tracks and denied entry for not masking up.

They are then forced to purchase one from nearby vendors ‘hiding’ in the station’s parking lot.

They are sold for Sh20 each.

It is until they proceed to the main terminus and find everyone else (including security guards and SGR staff) without their masks on that the unsettling reality of being fleeced dawns on them.

“Hi, hide my identity.

This is an observation, at SGR Nairobi Station.

Passengers are forced to wear masks by security guards.

Surprisingly someone stands in the car parking lot where the security guards direct passengers to go and buy the mask at 20 shillings.

When you get inside the terminal you will find even the security and staff do not have their masks on.

My observation is probably someone is making money from Wananchi.

They know very well no one uses masks nowadays, so they come up with such rules to make money.

The train carries more than 1000 passengers.

Imagine they force everyone to buy a mask, that means these guys are milking a lot of money from Kenyans.

Kindly take this as an important matter and address it to relevant media houses, this must stop for sure,” the source writes.
