Kenya’s tourism and wildlife departments and agencies align efforts to drive innovation, enhance conservation, and strengthen governance.

Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, on Tuesday convened a high-level strategic session with senior officials from the ministry’s two state departments and heads of its agencies, aimed at reinforcing the government’s mandate to drive tourism growth and wildlife protection.

The discussions focused on streamlining operations across the sector, fostering collaboration with key stakeholders, and enhancing innovation in both tourism development and conservation frameworks.

CS Miano emphasised that a unified approach, integrating regulation, promotion, and sector oversight, is critical to unlocking Kenya’s potential as a leading global tourism destination.

“The Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, through deliberations and collaborations with key sector players, is streamlining our operations and synchronizing our efforts to drive innovation in tourism and enhance our wildlife protection frameworks,” CS Miano said.

She highlighted the importance of team coordination and strategic planning in executing a roadmap that balances tourism expansion with environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation.

The session also aimed to reinforce institutional alignment across all ministry agencies, ensuring that regulatory measures, promotional activities, and conservation initiatives are harmonized for maximum impact.

CS Miano noted that a coherent, collaborative approach is essential to enhancing Kenya’s competitiveness in the global tourism market while safeguarding natural and cultural assets.

Looking ahead, the ministry plans to implement initiatives that support innovation, efficiency, and sustainability across the tourism and wildlife sectors, reinforcing Kenya’s reputation as the “Origin of Wonder.”
