MP Ejected from ODM Chair Due to ties with DP Ruto

Once again, the axe that recently fell on Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) members during the purge instituted in parliamentary committees has now fallen to the parties constituencies.

Merely days after he was de-whipped from the budget committee, Jomvu MP Badi Twalib has been replaced as chairman of the ODM party in his constituency.

The Raila Odinga led party says the MP is part of members who have been disloyal to the outfit and its leadership.

His ouster from the privileged parliamentary position comes weeks after a purge on opposition members who were deemed to have shifted their allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto’s camp.

The party’s Mombasa branch chairman Geoffrey Busaka confirmed that the lawmaker’s removal from the office of the chairman at his constituency.

The MP has been replaced in an acting capacity by Mikindani ward Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Renson Juma Thoya.

The embattled lawmaker has been regularly accused of abandoning party affairs in the constituency.

Badi was part of the MPs kicked out on May 28th by a resolution of the Nasa Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting after a series of warnings that they desist from openly advancing Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, which is against the wish of Nasa.
