Murathe slams DP Ruto over frequent Mt Kenya tours

Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe has called out Deputy President William Ruto over his frequent visits to the Mt Kenya region.

Speaking during an interview on KTN News, Murathe wondered why the DP is interested in taking his empowerment programs to Mt Kenya and not Rift Valley.

“We are warning our people because we suspect he is on a radicalisation mission. When did you hear his empowering the youth and women from his region?

“When did you last hear the Deputy President going to Eldoret or to Nandi or the larger Rift valley to empower women or deal with boda boda riders from his backyard?” Murathe wondered.

Murathe also called out the DP for coming up with a campaign to drive a wedge between the rich and the poor, saying that he can revive the outlawed Mungiki with the divide.

“We used to have Mungiki in the central and now when this narrative of the haves and haves not is used? That was Mungiki’s philosophy,” he added.

Murathe further warned the DP against dishing out handouts to the youth who need meaningful economic empowerment.

“He is going back to Tharaka Nithi, he was there last weekend, he is going back to Kirinyaga, he was there a week ago, he is going back to Murang’a after people died in Kenol,” he added.

Murathe’s statements came a day before DP Ruto’s visit to Kiharu and Kandara constituencies where he is expected to preside over harambees on Friday, October 30.

The DP is also expected to tour Kirinyaga, Nyeri and Tharaka Nithi counties.
