No Release For Vybz Kartel As He Loses Appeal On His Murder Conviction

Popular Jamaican artist Adidja Azim Palmer AKA Vybz Kartel will continue to serve his life sentence after he lost the appeal against his murder conviction. After a nearly two-year wait, the Court of Appeal on Friday handed down a judgment affirming the murder conviction of the popular entertainer and his co-accused.

In 2014 the celebrated dancehall and reggae superstar Vybz Kartel received a life sentence for the 2011 murder of Clive “Lizard” Williams. According to police reports, Williams was gruesomely murdered at Kartel’s property in the suburban community of Havendale after he stole two guns from Palmer.

The Judgement was handed down moments ago via teleconferencing with Attorneys involved in the appeal due to the novel Coronavirus.

Kartel’s Attorneys are to head to the Privy Council.

Vybz Kartel will be eligible for parole in 2049. He’ll be 73 years old. He is currently serving at the St Catherine Adult Correctional Facility in Jamaica.
