Nyeri MP Ngujiri Wambugu reveal reason why Moses Kuria was ejected from Kitui’s BBI meeting

Nyeri Town Legislator Ngunjiri Wambugu on Saturday, February 1, shared insights into what he alleged led to Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria being kicked out of the BBI Rally in Kitui.

Taking to his social media accounts, Wambugu claimed that Kuria and a section of MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto had planned to cause chaos at the event.

He accused Kuria of planning to sabotage the BBI rally in Kitui in a similar fashion to how, he claimed, Kuria had attempted to sabotage a similar rally held at Mombasa’s Mama Ngina Waterfront.

“Moses Kuria’s 15 minutes of shame: Aron Cheruiyot, Kipchumba Murkomen, Kimani Icungwa, and Moses Kuria deliberately showed up late for the BBI Rally in Kitui. This seems to be a plan TangaTanga has come up with as a means of interrupting BBI forums and making news,” Wambugu wrote.

He alleged that when the four arrived, they demanded to sit at the very front in the dais alongside other politicians who had arrived much earlier.

Ngunjiri indicated that at the time, the dais was already full as the event had already begun, and Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana was addressing the gathering.

He informed that after the other three leaders were told that there would be no seat for them at the podium as they sought, they took the available seats as directed.

Kuria, however, resisted all attempts to be directed to the seating space leading to the chaos that saw him manhandled, and the rally halted momentarily as security officials tried to force Kuria out of the venue.

Ngunjiri further alleged that Kuria had ferried supporters to the event and strategically stationed them close to the media to ensure that they shouted his name as he spoiled for a fight to draw attention.

“He got his 15 mins of fame for seating on the ground [sic]. But even he didn’t manage to interfere with the program and after this brief interlude, the meeting continued. And ended well. The question people are now asking is why it is only Kuria who got mishandled?” Ngunjiri pondered.

Calm was later restored and Kuria was allowed back to the podium upon the intervention of former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

However, he, alongside Murkomen and Ichung’wa, were denied the opportunity to address members of the public at the charged event in Kitui County.
