OJ speaks on life after battling alcoholism

Former Tahidi High actor Dennis Mugo popularly known as OJ was riding high when he would star on the show on Citizen TV.

During that period of his life, he got engaged with a crowd that influenced him to turn to alcohol for entertainment – a trait that led to his downward spiral in his finances and family relations .

In an episode of his YouTube show, the actor explained that it took several interventions before he could make a step to quit alcohol.

OJ explained that he was given an ultimatum to change his drinking habits by his then-wife – something that led to their break up.

“My drinking was bad. I was even prayed for by a pastor, he lay his hands on me and all that and even had counselling sessions for weeks, but after that I still went back to drinking,” he stated.

His family also tried to talk to him to get him to think about the effects of his drinking and about his social circles.

The media personality stated that the turning point came when his mother called him to live with her.

“When I moved in with my mother, I was not drinking and I had to change my circle of friends,” he stated.

OJ later moved to his own place in Syokimau and he was able to get his life back on track.

“I started going to work, which I had abandoned due to my drinking and my son also came to visit and I got to build my relationship with him,” he stated.
