Former FKF Premier league club Sofapaka striker Ronald Okoth has been nominated for Founder Of the Year(FOYA) Awards in the category of Social Founder of the Year 2021 following his outstanding initiatives to create sustainable football opportunities for the youth in the society.
The 33 year old who quit active football a year ago after featuring for several local sides including record league Champions Gor Mahia with which he won a Kenya Premiership title in 2013 is relishing the prospects of winning the accolade.

The low budget Lukaku as he is commonly referred to by his football peers is currently coaching RO Sports Academy, a flagship project of Road to Goals Organization,a certified entity seeking to inspire change,growth and sustainability through football.
“We have initiated alot of programs whose long term plan is to mentor,encourage & support our players in achieving their academic & athletic success which is a huge step for us and hope it will encourage more young athletes we work with to value and balance their football & educational dreams” he noted.

The awards, which are in their fifth edition, will run under the theme Believe. “We want to believe in your ideas, young people, startups, empowerment, impact, businesses and founders” the organisers said.
The annual awards celebrate outstanding young entrepreneurs from Kenya,Uganda,Tanzania,Rwanda, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Ghana, who create jobs by delivering practical and commercially viable solutions that are innovative and sustainable. There are 14 categories that cater to two age groups: 20 to 30 and 31 to 40.
The platform has developed into a convening agent for actors in the youthful entrepreneurship eco-system attracting and granting access to relevant investors, not-for-profit leaders and government officials to address everyday challenges and devise impactful lasting solutions.
