Police in Athi River conducted an operation in Mlolongo area where more than 50 revellers were arrested for breaking covid-19 restrictions.
The raid saw the Machakos County Police Commander Isa Mohamed and his driver roughed up as they tried to get into the club to check what was happening.
The officers were on patrolling at 3 am in the morning when they found out that some liquor dens were still operating contrary to Covid-19 containment measures.
It was then that they tried to force their way in that bouncers roughed them up.
The county commander had to shoot to the air before he called for reinforcement to arrest the revellers and bar owners.
The arrested revellers will appear in court today where they will be charged on various charges including failing to observe social distance rules and failing to wear face masks.
