The opposition leader alluded that the handshake was not about him or President Kenyatta. The African Union Envoy said that his union with the commander in chief of the armed forces is destined for posterity.

“Now this time round me and President Uhuru Kenyatta have been invited to Washington next month in the meeting known as Prayer breakfast on 4 of next month to deliver a talk on the handshake. Sasa wakati huu tumealikwa mimi na Uhuru Kenyatta tumealikwa kule Washington Mwezi ujao kwa ile mkutano inaitwa prayer breakfast tarehe nne mwezi ujao twende kuongelea mambo na handshake)” he said in part

Odinga urged leaders from the Western region to support the BBI report fully. He argued that the content of the report targets the entire nation. The Luo political kingpin opined that the nine pillars outlined in the report were brainchild of Kenyans.

Other leaders who were present during the function are Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya Leader Moses Wetangula. The duo also threw their weight behind the report
