Tanga Tanga faction of the ruling Jubilee Party DP William Ruto now says it will form a new political vehicle ahead of 2022.
Led by Kapseret Mp Oscar Sudi, the DPs allies said they had hoped to reunite Jubilee factions but since the party “has been hijacked by conmen and brokers”, they will soon dispose it like a used paper and tell their supporters the way forward.
Sudi’s comments come after Ruto hinted at a possible departure from the ruling party.
“As the boss said, we will try to sort out Jubilee issues but we have several other alternatives. Jubilee is just a paper and we will come up with other papers at the right time. Even if Ruto will contest on a party known as sufuria, then that is where we will belong.” Sudi said.
The outspoken Mp also promised a messy and noisy divorce if their investment in the party is not accounted for. He spoke at his Eldoret home where he hosted more than 60 MCAs from Uasin Gishu, Nandi and Trans Nzoia counties “for lunch” and issues affecting the region.
The lawmaker further claimed that covid-19 situation has been politicised to stop Ruto allies from meeting and plotting their 2022 plans. He also promised to address the public on a later date and give the way forward for the Tanga Tanga.
The MCAs who attended Sudi’s lunch also discussed Rift Valley politics and the future of the community that largely voted for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the past two elections.
The plan was to have Uhuru complete his two terms and then back Ruto in 2022 but insiders allied to the president have told the DP to forget about the promise.
They were led by Gilbert Tenai of Cheptiret ward who said that the region’s only option for the presidency in 2022 is DP Ruto.
Hon. Sudi also announced that he will convene similar meetings in Nakuru, West Pokot, Baringo and other regions in the Rift.
