Three Kenyans have been charged with tampering with telecommunications at DCI headquarters.
Particulars of the offence are that on the 8th day of June 2021 at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters within Nairobi County with others not before court, the three committed an act of mischief by interfering and fixing a communication transmitter antenna to the government antennae at DCI headquarters used by the said Director of criminal investigations without Authority.
According to court documents, the three namely Morris Otieno
Ooko, Kimilu Martin Mwenze and Bernard Ojiambo at around 1330hrs arrived at DCI
headquarters aboard a motor vehicle registration number KAV 491V with a company
logo of Telecom Kenya. At the main gate, PC James who was on duty allowed them
in, then the three proceeded to tower mask located behind block C of DCI
headquarters.
The driver of the motor vehicle Martin Mwenze dropped the
two suspects alleging and claiming to be employees of data base who embarked on
installing a transmitter antenna at DCI tower mask and while on the process of
installing the unit, Communication Officer saw them and requested them to stop
and identify themselves. They were also requested to give an account of their
work.
The communication officer explained to them that the mask
belonged to the DCI and that it’s a property of the National Police Service. He
also told them that there is a procedure to be followed before mounting
anything on the said tower.
The three have pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot and were released on a cash bail of ksh300,000.
