Tusker Fc: Asike and Mejja named the team’s players of the month ahead of crunch FKF Cup – KBC

Tusker FC defenders Eugene Asike and Sammy  Mejja have admitted their recent recognition by the club as the team’s outstanding players for the month of May motivates them ahead of their FKF Cup quarter final clash against AFC Leopards tomorrow, Wednesday.

The duo were recognized during  the club’s monthly awards  which seeks to  fete players whose contribution to the teams’ success over a months’ duration was noticeable.

Mejja has proven to be a key member of the Robert Matano led side since the restart of the FKF PL in mid May starting in all the three matches the team has played so far against KCB and Vihiga,and  scored as Tusker drew 1-1 with Wazito FC.

‘’I thank the coach for showing belief in me, I have been working hard and after getting the chance I gave it my all and am happy with the selection today as the recipient of the award which motivates me and I promise to continue working hard in the forthcoming games as well’’

Defender Eugene Asike who has started in all the three matches except when he came  on as a second half substitute during their FKF Round of 16, 4-1 win against Marafiki FC.

‘’I am happy with the recognition, but I believe it’s a team a effort I believe we are all winners, it’s a good gesture actually and I feel motivated going forward,it brings good spirit in the camp to get such recognition from the management and good energy to the team’’,Asike said.

Tusker Fc is set to play AFC Leopards in their quarter final match of the FKF Cup tomorrow k. The other quarter final match scheduled Wednesday will be between holders Bandari Fc against Equity FC.

Tusker , last crowned league champions in 2016, lead the FKF Premier league standings with 38 points,2 ahead of second and third placed KCB FC and AFC Leopards respectively.
