Top on the agenda is how to wrestle the populous and vote rich Rift Valley from Deputy President William Ruto.

KANU will roll out plans that will see it aggressively prepare for the 2022 presidential elections.  So far Moi who is the party leader is likely to be the presidential candidate because no one else has shown interest from the party so far.

Reviving KANU might rattle DP William Ruto and his team but chipping away Ruto’s support in Rift Valley is not a walk in the park.

KANU also plans to recruit new members, fill vacant branch positions and hold national elections to fill all vacant positions before the year ends.

The party will also put a series of events led by Moi with the main aim of making the party popular. Some of these will be done through BBI rallies that the old party supports.

The political wars will hit a fever-pitch with the coronation of the late president’s youngest son and KANU chairman, as the heir of the family’s political throne and presumptive kingpin of the Rift. As things stand at the moment DP Ruto is the kingpin.

The 2019 census revealed that Rift Valley is the most populous region in the country with a total population of 12,752,966.

Before the burial, Gideon Moi was given the ivory-tipped ‘Nyayo rungu’ that his father always carried to symbolize authority, power and force.

Political commentators think that Gideon’s installation would be a blow to Ruto’s efforts to consolidate his own support as the region’s kingpin ahead of the 2022 General Election.
