Police in Makueni County are holding 12 Mukaa Boys High School students in connection with alleged arson after a fire razed down a dormitory in the institution.

Property worth hundreds of thousands were destroyed when the dormitory burnt down on Saturday night.

The fire is said to have begun at around 6pm on the said day, destroying the belongings of 100 students who occupy the dormitory including mattresses and books.

No casualties were however recorded as students and nearby area residents worked together to put out the flames before firefighters arrived.

The school Principal, Francis Mutua, said probe into the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
